What is a WETT Inspection?
A Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT) inspection is a thorough
inspection of your wood burning appliance by a certified WETT inspector.
Site Basic inspections are usually required for insurance purposes or for peace of mind. If are using a wood burning appliance to heat your home then you should have it inspected for proper installation and any maintenance that may be required. Most insurance companies now require your wood stove, fireplace, fireplace insert, wood furnace or pellet stove to be inspected by a WETT Certified Inspector prior to issuing a home insurance policy. In most cases, a basic visual evaluation will be enough to tell the WETT inspector if the installation of your wood burning appliance is safe. Every homeowner who has a wood burning appliance should have regular WETT inspections and cleaning at least once a year. This ensures that the unit is functioning properly, that there is no damage to any components. Having regular WETT inspections of your wood-burning appliance can provide you with the confidence that they are working properly and that your family and home will be safe.
